Setting Up Maplytics in Canvas Apps
Ana wanted to bring mapping capabilities to her Canvas App to better manage her sales pipeline. She followed the following steps to enable the publishing of Canvas Apps with Code Components, add Data to the Canvas App, import Maplytics Components, and configure the Maplytics List Control.
Once the setup is done, Ana started using Maplytics in the Power Apps Canvas App.

Ana started her day by opening her Canvas App on her mobile to plan her client visits effectively using Maplytics.

Plotting Client Data on the Map
With just a few taps, Ana selected the “Plot” option and entered postal codes for the regions she wanted to target in the USA. Instantly, Maplytics collected and displayed the client records on Azure Maps, giving her a clear, visual overview of where her customers were located.
Now, Ana needed to refine her search further. She only wanted to see clients in the Accounting and Banking sectors.
No problem!
She simply tapped on “Filter”, selected the required industries, and Maplytics updated the view instantly in Canvas App.
Quick and effortless! She now had a focused list of clients to visit, all visible on the map within her Canvas App.
Instant Search Without Leaving the App
While reviewing her list, Ana realized she needed to check on a specific client. Instead of switching to Dynamics 365 CRM, she simply used the search bar in Maplytics. By entering the client’s name, she quickly located the record without leaving the app.
She also used color-coded pushpins to differentiate client categories, making the map even more intuitive and easy to navigate.
Optimizing Routes for Client Visits:
Next, Ana wanted to plan her field rep’s route for the day. She selected her starting point, added client locations, and used Maplytics’ route optimization feature. With just a few taps, she customized the route based on factors like: Shortest Travel Time, Avoiding Traffic, Avoiding Highways, etc.
Once done, she clicked “Go”, and the optimized route appeared on Azure Maps—ready to guide her rep throughout the day.
Finding Nearby Locations on the Go
Just as she was about to head out, Ana remembered that one of her clients preferred meeting at a nearby café. Instead of searching manually, she used the POI (Point of Interest) search within Maplytics to find cafés close to the client’s location.
Within seconds, she had a list of nearby cafés to choose from—another hassle-free solution at her fingertips!
